A girl from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh was paralyzed from the waist down after she jumped from a bridge on being blackmailed by her boyfriend. Shadab allegedly clicked the girl's objectionable photos and videos. The girl said Shadab asked her to have sex with his three friends or pay them 50,000rs, otherwise, he would upload all the photos on social media.

The girl, who is in her 20s, stated that her boyfriend, identified as Shadab, and his three friends allegedly used her objectionable photos and videos to blackmail her. This pushed the girl to take the extreme step by jumping from an overbridge on Tuesday. As the girl threw herself off the overbridge, some commuters noticed her and immediately rushed to save her. She was dashed to a hospital for medical care. She survived the fall but "her legs have turned lifeless".

"The upper lumbar vertebrae has collapsed. Because she jumped off a height of about 40 feet, the lower level of her spinal cord was compressed. Her legs have turned lifeless. She is paraplegic," a doctor told TOI. On the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl's family, police have registered a case against the four accused - Shadab and his friends Arif, Saddam, and Rashid - under relevant sections efforts are being made to arrest them, police said.
